SG&A AI Implementation Intern
About Astera Labs
Astera Labs builds purpose-built connectivity solutions for rack-scale AI infrastructure. Our teams collaborate across functions to solve complex problems and deliver impact. As an intern, you’ll contribute to meaningful work alongside experienced colleagues and receive mentorship as you build practical skills.
About the role
Astera Labs’ Applied AI team works to accelerate business outcomes through the use of AI as the company scales. We’re looking for a curious, hands-on intern to help SG&A teams identify and implement useful AI-enabled workflows. You’ll work directly with internal customers to understand how work gets done, break ambiguous problems into manageable steps, and build or configure practical solutions using tools such as Glean, Claude Code, and workflow-automation platforms.
You don’t need to know every tool on day one. We’re looking for someone who has used AI tools in real work, coursework, or personal projects and can learn new platforms quickly, test ideas thoughtfully, and help people adopt what works.
What you’ll do
- Meet with internal stakeholders across SG&A functions to understand pain points, current processes, user needs, and constraints.
- Map workflows and identify opportunities where AI or automation can reduce repetitive effort, improve access to information, or make processes more consistent.
- Break larger opportunities into small, testable tasks; help scope pilots and define what success should look like.
- Build, configure, or prototype AI-enabled workflows using tools such as Glean, Claude Code, and approved automation or low-code platforms.
- Test solutions with users, review outputs for quality and reliability, capture feedback, and iterate.
- Document workflow designs, instructions, limitations, and handoff steps; help users understand and adopt the solutions.
- Track practical outcomes such as time saved, adoption, task completion, and user satisfaction.
- Follow company requirements for data privacy, information security, responsible AI, and human review.
What we’re looking for
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business analytics, operations, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience using generative AI tools, AI assistants, or workflow automation in a project, internship, coursework, or personal setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to turn a broad or ambiguous request into clear steps and manageable deliverables.
- Clear communication skills and comfort working with both technical and non-technical partners.
- Ability to learn new software quickly, work iteratively, and ask good questions when requirements are unclear.
- Strong organizational skills, including keeping tasks, notes, documentation, and follow-ups organized while managing multiple workstreams.
- Sound judgment when working with business information; willingness to follow privacy, security, and human-review practices.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Glean, Claude Code, or comparable enterprise AI or coding-assistant tools.
- Exposure to workflow automation or integration tools (for example, low-code/no-code platforms), APIs, or scripting in Python or JavaScript.
- Experience documenting processes, testing software or AI outputs, or creating lightweight user guides.
- Interest in internal operations, finance, HR, procurement, or other SG&A workflows.
What you’ll gain
- Practical experience taking an AI opportunity from stakeholder discovery through prototype, user feedback, and handoff.
- Mentorship and exposure to how AI solutions are evaluated and adopted in a business environment.
- A portfolio of documented work with concrete user and business outcomes.
